It’s not easy to describe exactly what Caitlin and Minh have created as Zoe Bios (Minh Nguyen holds a degree in Chemistry and is the former Managing Director of Natural Curiosities and Caitlin Dinkins has her MFA in Painting and is the former Illustrator and Creative Director for Stila Cosmetics): one foot is in the art world, one in interior design, they’re not quite a design collective… they call it ‘ArtEntouré’– a full circle cross-pollination of the art world with the design world.

“We focus on the visual organization of new forms—chance arrangements and purposeful compositions. We want to inspire unconventional thinking, and creative design solutions while maintaining a mindful attention to beauty and contentment in every object that we offer…we are artists, curators, and collaborators.”

I got to work with a great ad agency based out of San Francisco and, together, we created a series of images of the big jambox in some seriously great interiors. It was all very exciting, I had to sign an nda since it hadn’t come out yet and we had to be very hush hush about the product. I’m lucky to have a network of people with great homes that I could call upon at the last minute (like Tracy and Gregory and Simon and Laura and Elsie and Abby and Erin and Jerome–thanks to all of you!).

It was also a great chance for Morgan and I to do more work together–she handled the props and styling of a ton of different interiors and probably made 4 million decisions every day. And though I almost completely wore her and Heather out–we shot 3 locations a day for 4 days in a row–I thought everyone did a fantastic job and couldn’t be happier. Last week I shot a big project that took me all over town shooting as many locations as I could cover in 4 days. I relied on houses I already knew or homes and apartments of friends I had always wanted to see. It meant a week filled with shooting beautiful interiors, catching up with people in real life, realizing what a great circle of people I have in my world and meeting a lot of great dogs.

This is The Scout. She is a charmer.

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been shooting for Remodelista to help them cover local LA spots with great design. One of my favorites is up on the site today: Axe in Venice.

Having lived in Venice for a good part of my life, this was always my go-to spot for lunch –most often going there with my dad. I’ve been a huge fan of the simple space and the healthy menu (get the rice bowl with chicken! And brunch on the weekends!). Love the wood slat ceiling, the bare bulbs (they did those over ten years ago), the heath bowls, dark furniture and bare walls. I love that it’s minimal without feeling cold, especially with the new kilim pillows they added to the benches.

I like to look, I like to daydream and I feel calm in the landscape. Yesterday in Angeles Crest was a pretty good day for it.

Photo Camp was a huge success with the best campers Morgan and I could have hoped for and lots of ideas for future camps (sleepaway anyone?)! Can’t wait to share pics from the campers and share some of the highlights from saturday.

I’m still recovering from that cold everyone has but wanted to share the Camper Goodie Folders (that hazel approves of). They were complete with friendship bracelet, camper’s notebook and Field Guide along with goodies from At Your Leisure (bonus! dream catcher) + Blurb. Those are the gorgeous sample books from Blurb (each camper gets to make a book of their own photos!). I want to make one of my instagram photos (maybe exclusively of hazel, we’ll see).

Excited to reveal where Morgan and I will be holding our first ever PHOTO | CAMP this saturday–at the fancy (and shimmery) ban.do studio!

I went this morning to snap these shots of the studio and am so happy to have such a fun space to work in and can’t wait to share with you some other goodies from blurb books and At Your Leisure along with photo tips galore and step by step help for improving photos. We’ve already been receiving sample photos from our campers and can see it’s a talented bunch. Really excited to meet everyone and have a photo filled day!
