I bought a new lens over the weekend that goes down to 1.4 (this one). Look at all that beautiful out of focus madness on my maiden hair fern! I got it just in time to shoot a bunch of ‘beauty shots of silly stuff’ for the new york times yesterday. It’ll be out soon and I’ll share.
I also shot a lot of pictures of hazel. I will spare you and just share one of them. This is her on the fridge.

Getting ready for my trip to Paris and loved all the responses about what you’d like to see. I will be committed to documenting (or at least reporting) on the art of doing nothing, my secret spots in Paris and carousels (ahem, summer).

OK, so I’ve fallen in love with Hazel. A-freakin’-dorable! Paris?! FUN!
Will, check her out here: http://laurejoliet.com/blog/?p=3250
I’ll be in London too!
The 50mm f1.4 is all I use on my Canon any more. I think the other lenses are jealous.
And yes, that’s a very regal kitty you have there.
fast lenses are the best.
@john my 50mm lives on my canon, too.
I’ve been using a 24-70 and it’s great because then I don’t have to change lenses between cu’s and wides. But it’s only 2.8. It’s going to take some getting used to if I’m going to rely on the 50mm more. Maybe I should just have 2 camera bodies
more photos of hazel asap! you can never over do the hazel photo dumps. more more! meow! that cat is a god damn model! show her off!
Hello! I’m curious about your upcoming trip to Paris. Have you gone at this time of year before?
My sister and I were thinking to go in March.. we thought it would be a good time to beat the crowds but still have half way decent weather.

dee. the fall is my favorite because it isn’t too hot, it isn’t too crowded, fares are cheap and it isn’t desperately cold like the spring can be! I also LOVE FALL and never really get one in LA, so that’s a bonus!
